About
Jewel Mosley is an accomplished professional, currently serving as BSW Student Services Coordinator and Associate Faculty at Indiana University School of Social Work. With a Master of Social Work degree from IUSSW, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role. Jewel's career has been dedicated to addressing the needs of underserved students and promoting collegiate access and success. She is passionate about cultivating student learning, growth, and development, and has been instrumental in implementing data-driven strategies to foster student persistence and achievement.
In addition, Jewel also plays a significant role on behalf of the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust, specifically as a member of the Nina Scholars Advisory Council since 2013. She is an integral part of the four-person selection committee responsible for evaluating, interviewing, and selecting new Nina Scholars each year. This esteemed program offers comprehensive support and nearly a full-ride scholarship for up to six years to independent youth, students with disabilities, and students with dependents. Jewel's unwavering commitment to this initiative has made her an indispensable member of the team year after year.
Jewel's diverse experience ranges from recruitment and admissions to residence life and new student orientation to academic advising, career services, alumni relations and workforce development, demonstrating her commitment to supporting students throughout their educational journey.
As a researcher, Jewel has clinical experience in providing comprehensive health and wellness services in the treatment of persons with trauma histories, mood, anxiety, psychotic, and substance use disorders. Her research examines health equity, health disparities, Social Determinants of Health (SDoH), trauma-informed care restorative practices, training methodologies and its impact on African Americans and child and youth care workers. She conducts translational research using systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and clinical trials.
Jewel's amazing contributions are making a big impact in the local, national, and global communities. Her unwavering dedication as a diversity champion and her extensive contributions to student success make her an invaluable asset to Indiana University.

2016 - IUPUI University College (TLC) FacultyUniversity College (TLC) Faculty Teaches undergraduates social work courses to BSW students. Teaches one (1) social work course (Swk-S102, Diversity in a Pluralistic Society) in a Themed Learning Community (TLC) of 25 students. Collaborate with two other TLC faculty to explore topics directly related to the Inequality and Social Justice TLC. Intergrate InterGroup Diaologue in the classroom to address complex issues correlated with Inequality and Social Justice. Create Assignments in alignment with the Principles of Co-Curricular Learning (PCLs) outcomes. Developed Canvas content, targeted curriculum for Inequality and Social Jutice. Assist students in making connections between the three (3)courses that might otherwise seem disconnected. Integrate co-curricular experiences that take learning beyond the classroom. Coordinate with the IUPUI Office of Admissions in planning, developing, and carrying out recruitment activities on campus and throughout Central Indiana. Coordinate with the state-wide IUSSW Recruitment and Career Services Coordinator in planning, developing, and carrying out recruitment activities hosted by Indiana Association for College Admission Counseling organization. Establish relevant campus and community programming for prospective BSW students and their families. Design and implement cohesive and integrated academic and co-curricular programming in support of Pre-Social Work students and BSW students from pre-admission and admission through graduation. Provide support and assistance to prospective students, transfer students, and BSWstudents on any and all questions or concerns regarding the BSW program and the BSW Student Association. Develop programmatic support and outreach to assist Pre-Social Work students in supporting the success of their BSW e-Application. 2016 to 2018 - DJ Center for YouthProvide guidance to youth leaders in Indianapolis through Youth as Resources (YAR), a program of United Way of Central Indiana. YAR makes small grants to youth who identify community needs and design projects that use their skills, creativity and energy to help others. Groups apply for up to $1,000 to cover project expenses, materials, transportation and youth recognition. Youth groups must have an adult advisor and a nonprofit sponsor, which may be a school, church, youth-serving or community agency.
