About

Nicki Williamson, BSW Field Coordinator, is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Indiana University School of Social Work (IUSSW). Overseeing the two-semester senior practicum, she supports students’ application of classroom knowledge and professional skills into workplace settings. She works to expand the social work profession into underserved and rural communities by fostering new community partnerships. Nicki teaches the S481 and S482 Field Practicum Seminar courses as well as supervises instructors of the same course on the Bloomington campus. She is actively involved in the IUSSW Diversity Council where she currently serves as Secretary.

Prior to becoming a full-time faculty member at IUSSW, Nicki was Associate Faculty, teaching across both BSW and MSW programs. Teaching experiences included: Introduction to Social Work Research (BSW), Introduction to Social Work (BSW), Social Work Practicum I: Seminar (BSW), Social Work Practicum II: Seminar (BSW), Social Work Practice: Addictions and Mental Health (MSW) and Addictions Practice: Individuals and Families (MSW). Additionally, Nicki supervised students completing their Master’s Level Field Practicum in the role of External Field Instructor.

Nicki's social work career has focused on the healthcare industry, developing expertise in mental health and wellness. With a focus on prevention, she's provided intervention services to individuals and families in a variety of clinical settings as well as a successful private practice. Active community involvement and leadership are also important to her. Community engagement roles include Bloomington Pridefest, DNR Lake Monroe Adopt a Shoreline, and National Association of Social Workers Public Policy/LEAD Day Committee. Leadership roles include serving as the President of Edgewood Hills Homeowners’ Association and Secretary of the Monroe County Women’s Commission.
