About

Colleen Rose has a B.S. in Human Development/Family Studies (with Highest Distinction) from Indiana University Bloomington and an MSW from the IU School of Social Work. She is a member of the social work national honor society, Phi Alpha. Colleen has close to 20 years of professional experience in higher education with Indiana University.

Colleen is the Director of Student Engagement for the IU Center for Rural Engagement. She oversees the nationally recognized program Sustaining Hoosier Communities and drives innovative strategies for engaging student in rural communities across Indiana. Previously she served IUSSW for 7 years as the full-time lead on the Bloomington campus for academic advising, recruitment, and admissions for the BSW and MSW programs. Her background also includes expertise in community-engaged pedagogy, student leadership development, and high-impact practices through co-curricular service. Colleen is a contributor and reviewer for NACADA's Academic Advising Today and presents nationally on innovations in academic advising. 

Ms. Rose served a term of national service in AmeriCorps*VISTA and has a background in work with youth at-risk. She was a student employee with, and then supervisor of the nationally-recognized Advocates for Community Engagement (ACE) program at IU Bloomington. Prior to her current role, Colleen worked with Student Life and Learning and the Service-Learning Program at Indiana University Bloomington. She is a licensed social worker in the State of Indiana and is pursuing a graduate certificate from the IU School of Education in Academic Advising.
