Indianapolis #

Students of the BSW Program maintain a BSW Student Association, which sponsors program meetings and social events during the year. Through elected officers and committees, the association serves as an important channel of communication between students, faculty, and the University.

Additionally, this organization appoints student representatives to the Indianapolis student government and to various School of Social Work committees. Students are also encouraged to participate in organizations related to the social work profession.

Bloomington #

The School recognizes the student organization as an integral component of professional education.  SWSA officers help with the formulation and modification of policies affecting student affairs, writing student grants, and implementing student-related projects/functions.

East #

Fort Wayne #

Students of the BSW Program maintain a BSW Student Association, which sponsors program meetings and social events during the year. Through elected officers and committees, the association serves as an important channel of communication between students, faculty, and the University.

Additionally, this organization appoints student representatives to the Indianapolis student government and to various School of Social Work committees. Students are also encouraged to participate in organizations related to the social work profession.

The Association also holds an annual fund raiser with proceeds benefiting BSW students and others through selected student outings, diverse learning experiences, community outreach work, and the BSW Graduation Party.

Northwest #

SSWA Mission Statement

We are the future and current social work practitioners who are dedicated to promote social justice, diversity, advocacy, and equality for all individuals. We work to fight oppression on groups and individuals through use of empowerment and raising awareness.

SSWA Goals

  1. Volunteer work and engaging in service projects.
  2. Goals: Raise awareness about diversity
  3. Network: Empower students by participating in LEAD day
  4. Promote social justice in Lake County
  5. Dues=$5.00 monthly / hr. meetings.

Bachelor of Social Work students have organized a Student Association on the Northwest Campus and membership is open to any social work undergraduate or graduate student.  The School recognizes the student organization as an integral component of professional education. Although the organization is autonomous, the BSW Program Director serves as the SSWA advisor and facilitator for the organization in order to encourage group identification and student participation in the formal decision-making process of the School.

BSW and MSW students elected by their peers participate in Northwest’s faculty as a whole standing committee. Through their representatives students contribute to the formulation and modification of policy affecting academic and student affairs, and participate in the ongoing evaluation of the social work programs.

South Bend #
