Trauma Informed Education & Care

Career Connections Workshop Series in collaboration with the IU Interprofessional Practice and Education Center

Must register in advance!

Through active engagement with experts in the field, students will exit this workshop able to define trauma and trauma-informed care, understand the underlying principles of trauma-informed care, and demonstrate the principles of trauma-informed care in a diverse setting.

 

Presenters:

 

Alex Purcell, Director of Public Health Practice & Accreditation; Interim Director of the MPH Degree Program & Strategic Planning, IU-Bloomington, School of Public Health

Alex is a Faculty Affiliate with the Center for Rural Engagement, currently working on a School of Public Health and School of Social Work collaboration to develop a free, online, professional development certificate in trauma-informed care.

John Keesler, Associate Professor, IU School of Social Work

Through practice-informed research, John Keesler has published in the area of trauma and trauma-informed care with a particular emphasis on intellectual and developmental disabilities services. With a passion for community-based research, he seeks to engage organizations, communities, and students in building capacity, reducing stigma and promoting wellness. He also is partnering with Alex Purcell on the professional development certificate in trauma-informed care.
